Hello there and welcome back to TV Tuesday. I apologize for the long delay between the postings here. That real world and someone hijacking an account led to this. (This means I have no e-mail addresses for anyone as I lost them in the acocunt hijack. So, if you will drop me an e-mail to re-create the list, I'd appreciate it!) But we're back and we're going to try and be consistent again.

Let's get started.

May sweeps just finished, featuring a month of season and series finales. We crowned a new American Idol, found the new Survivor, said goodbye to some old friends and were left hanging about what was behind the hatch and just who Vaughn really is. (To name a few). This week, we'll take a look at the season finales...

1. OK, so tell us--which season and series finales did you watch and how would you rank them?

2. What were you top three or five season finales this year? (This can cover shows like Arrested Development and Battlestar Galactica that wrapped up their seasons before May)

3. What was the worst season or series finale this year?

4. Were there any shows that exited stage left that you will miss? Any shows that maybe should be given the axe and weren't?

Week 43: Awards Shows

The Oscars, the Grammys, the Screen Actors Guild, the People's Chocice. These are just some of the awards shows that have been on TV in the past couple of weeks. This week, we take a look at the awards shows.

Week 42: The Super Bowl

It's the biggest spectacle in all of sports--the Super Bowl. It's more than just a game, it's the pre-game, half-time show, post-game report and the coveted post-Super Bowl spot to pump up a show. And let's not forget the commericals.

This week, we turn our attention to...the Super Bowl.

1. How much of this year's Super Bowl did you watch? Do you watch any of the pre-game hype?

2. What was your favorite commercial during the Super Bowl? Least favorite?

3. Did you like the half-time show?

4. What's your favorite food to eat while watching the Super Bowl?

~ BONUS ~ A lot has been made over the years about the post-Super Bowl slot to highlight or launch TV shows. It was the post-Super Bowl spot that brought us the A-Team and the Wonder Years. Do you stay up to watch the post-Super Bowl shows? What is the most memorable post-Super Bowl show you've seen?

Week 41: Nick at Night

Nick at Night is celebrating 20 years of giving us "classic" television in the evening. This year's new show is the classic 80s sitcom Murphy Brown. Murph and company join the rotation of such sitcoms The Cosby Show, Family Ties, Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, The Munsters, Green Acres and many, many more that help introduce new generations to the great comedies of yesteryear.

This week, we take a look at the shows on Nick-at-Night.

1. Of the many shows that run on Nick-at-Night, what is the one that you would most enjoy sitting down and watching a marathon of?

2. What classic show from yesterday has not made it to Nick-at-Nite yet, but you'd like to see it there?

3. Have repeat on Nick-at-Night given you a new appreciation of an older show? Which one?

4. What show that is currently on the air do you think our kids will be watching in 20 years on Nick-at-Nite?

5. What is one show that Nick-at-Nite currently runs that you question if the classic label applies to?

~ BONUS ~ Are there some shows that don't repeat well in later years because they rely on topical humor? (For example, a lot of the Murphy Brown jokes rely on a knowledge of current events when they were produced) Do you sometimes find yourself getting the jokes that younger generations don't? Week 40: Jumping the Shark

As TV fans, we hear it all the time--"This show has jumped the shark"

For those of you who might not be aware, there is a web site called JumptheShark.com. The site attempts to find the exact moment when a TV show goes from being really good to being not as good. The Jump the Shark refers to the infamous Happy Days episode where Fonzie jumped over a shark on water skis. After that, it was all downhill for the show. (If you head over to the Jump the Shark web site, you can see a huge database of shows and the moment when fans feel they made the fateful jump.)

Right now, fans are debating if a couple of shows aren't becoming Shark bait. So, this week, we'll take a look at just when good shows go wrong.

1. What is the worst Jump the Shark moment for a show that you've faithfully watched? Did you continue to watch after the show took the jump or did you give up in disgust?

2. Is there a show that you're currently watching that you think has Jumped the Shark? Any show that currently is putting on a life vest and strapping on water skis?

3. Is there a show that has never taken the jump?

4. Is there a show that got close to jumping but then came back?

5. What elements do you think most contribute to a show making the jump?

Week 39: The King

Last Saturday would have been the 70th birthday of the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley. Fans from across the world gathered in Memphis at Graceland to celebrate the birth of the King of Rock and Roll. But Elvis was more than just the king of the musical world. He made tried to be the king of all media with appearances on TV, his movies, etc. This week, we take a look at the King of Rock and Roll.

1. Did you watch any of the Elvis movie marathons, celebrations or retrospectives on various channels over the weekend?

2. Do you have a favorite Elvis movie? If so, which one?

3. Elvis's appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show caused quite a bit of controversy and had the censors worried about his dancing. Looking back, it's nothing compared to what the censors allow on TV today. What is the most outrageous thing you've seen on TV recently?

~ BONUS ~ Elvis's appearance on the Ed Sullivan show was a huge deal. If you were old enough to have actually seen Elvis when he appeared on the show, did you watch? What'd you think at the time? Share any memories you might have related to the event. What is your favorite Elvis TV moment or special?

Week 38: Looking forward, looking back.

Welcome to the first TV Tuesday of 2005! It's that special time of year--when we look back at the year that was and look forward to the year that will be. A lot of people make resolutions too. So, this week, we're gonna have a bit of looking forward and bit of looking back...

1. Did you watch more or less TV during the holidays? Did you sample any new shows in repeats or watch reruns of your favorites to catch-up?

2. Did you get any TV on DVD as a gift during the holiday season?

3. Which do you like more--watching the ball drop in NYC or all the college football bowl games?

4. Looking forward--are there any mid-season replacements shows or any returning shows your anxious to see?

~ BONUS ~ If you watched Dick Clark's Rocking New Year's Eve (hosted by Regis), rate this year's event without Mr. Clark. Was it good, bad? Just OK? Did you miss Dick Clark or was Regis enough for you?

Only four more days until Christmas! And then means only one thing--only four more days of Christmas specials! Every year, there are classics that are shown and a couple of new specials try to gain the title of classic. This week, we'll look at those Christmas specials.

3. One recent trend is making sequels to popular or successful Christmas specials. Do you like or dislike this trend? Why?

4. Is there a book, story or song just waiting to be turned into a great Christmas special?

Week 35 - Holiday Shows

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Well, that is unless you're a TV fan. December is that time of year when the November sweeps are over and it's slim pickings for new episodes of our favorite shows. But, most TV shows worth their salt have a holiday-themed episode. Week 30 - Reality TV

I know we'd done this before but since all the comments were lost somewhere along the line I think we'll do it again! LOL Reality TV has become all the rage, and love it or hate it there's no sign it's going to be leaving anytime soon. From MTV's "The Real World", Ozzy's life, an Australian adventure for some city girls to win some guy's affections, to 12 men trying to become the perfect lady... They've tried to out do each other over and over again. How real is reality TV? I doubt anyone will ever know but let's talk about it anyway! :)

~~Okay okay, dang is it Tuesday?! Labor Day threw me off for some reason, sorry about that!!~~

Being a stay at home aunt has been an interesting experience for me. My husband and I had been alone for years and it'd been a long time since I'd seen any kids shows. They sure aren't what I remember them being so this week we're going to see what's what in the world of kids!!

1. On a whole do you feel most Special Reports are really that special? Or are they simply annoying?

2. What special report has effected you most? (IE: (9/11, Reagan being shot...etc)

3. Do you stay tuned in for Special Reports or do you reach for the remote?

~Bonus~ Not exactly a special report but more on special coverage. What are your thoughts on some of the "Special Coverage" spots that have hit TV lately? One that comes to mind for me is the 24 hour a day coverage of Ronald Reagan's body laying in state at the White House. Something we needed to see or just plain morbid?

Week 17 - Daytime TV

Hi all! Sorry this is late, mother nature decided to knock us offline last night and I finally gave up waiting her out and went to bed.

Everyone knows all of us who "stay at home" for one reason or another do nothing but sit and watch TV right? That was a joke, just for the record. Most people get a chance to watch TV at some point during the day and this week we're going to explore your watching habits! This week's topic is daytime TV!

1. Daytime TV: "Gimme my soaps", "Talk shows please", "More of a Game show person", or "Home shows are best!!"

2. One of the latest trends in Daytime TV is re-runs of 80's & 90's hit shows, what is your favorite that's re-running now? If you don't have one which show would you like to see re-running?

3. What's your all time favorite day time show?

~Bonus~ There's lots of noise about Daytime soaps pushing the limits of what's acceptable on TV, but the soaps claim they're just keeping up with changes in society, so which is it? Are the soaps over the edge? Or has society brought it on itself?

Companies pay billions and billions of dollars each year to drop commercials into our favorite programs in hopes of influencing our shopping habits, getting us to buy things, and toot their own horns. As long as people still have money to spend they'll keep giving us ideas on how to spend it. So this week let's take a closer look at the entity we call commercials.

1. Commercials: Annoying disruption or Interesting Advertisement?

2. Is there a commercial that instantly has you reaching for the remote to mute it?

3. Jingles are one of the most useful tools in commercials, what's your favorite (or least favorite if you prefer)?

Week 15 - Infomercials

"But wait, there’s more!"

2004 is the 20th anniversary for the infomercial. The first acknowledged informercial was for Herbalife, a weight loss supplement in the fall of 1984. From real estate investments to fitness equipment, and kitchen gadgets, infomercials played to the tune of $154 billion in sales last year.

But celebrities beware - Cher’s star status was chewed apart after appearing in an infomecial for hair care products, and Dionne Warwick’s Psychic Friends Network sent her image from classy to kooky. Who could forget Susan Powter: Stop the insanity!

They've got make-overs, psychics, paternity suits and things you'd rather not know about but their ratings are through the roof!! Like them or hate them they're part of TV culture.

Hope everyone who was celebrating had a safe Memorial Day weekend!! Hopefully you got an extra day for your weekend!! Now on to this week's questions! Be kind, it's my first week solo! :)

1. In the US many stations run "marathons" all day on Monday, many stations have also went to running all weekend marathons of old sitcoms. So question number one is: Did you watch any of the marathons running this year? In part? In whole?

2. Is there a show you'd like to see run an all day marathon? On the flipside is there a show you'd avoid in marathon?

Week 9 - Reunited and it feels so good!

Tuesday at 9/8 central CBS is running the 159th episode of one of it's classic TV series: The Dick Van Dyke Show Revisited. This episode was written 40 years later, with all the surviving cast members in it. This will be an actual episode, with the actors in character, not just actors sitting around reminiscing about the good old days.

Bill Persky, the show's writer-producer, said in TV Guide: "Everybody's memory was not what it was. We could remember a joke from 40 years ago, but we couldn't remember whether we decided to do a scene this way or that way. Everybody had something they almost remembered, so when we were looking for a title, I came up with The Dick Van Dyke Show Almost Remembered. The comic timing was terrific- except when they couldn't hear anything. There was a lot of "What? What? What?" The greatest below-the-line expense was for hearing aid batteries."

On that note, how do you feel about reunion shows?

1. What show would you like to see brought back for an hour or two episode, to see how the characters are doing now? (This should be a show that it might be possible to do a reunion on.)

2. Pick a show that could not realistically be brought back for a reunion, because some or all of the cast members are gone. What if they could have done a reunion before it was too late? Name the show you'd most like to see.

3. Which reunion show have you watched and thought "Wow, they should have left that one alone!"

Comedy Central unveiled it's list of the 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians of All Time last week. (The list was quite subjective, I don't know who voted, no one asked me.) But it was a fun series of shows to watch. They are replaying it endlessly if you'd like to catch it. You can view their list here, if you'd like some help coming up with names for this week's questions!

Whether it was Barney Fife with one bullet in his pocket, or Lt. Columbo's "Just one more thing…", we could be sure in the old days that TV cops would wrap everything up neatly in 30 to 60 minutes. These days it may take a few episodes, but TV's top cops still manage to right most of the world's wrongs.

TV Note: Thursday and Friday this week at 10/9 p.m. central, Court TV is running a 2-part documentary called "Just the Facts", dissecting the accuracy of Hollywood's depiction of police work. "Police work is years of boredom punctuated by seconds of sheer terror," says Bill Davis of the California State Police. Doesn't quite seem that way on TV, does it?
